Nice! I wish I could have gone, but I'm so poor Q_Q
You got some really good cards though. Gild is an amazing card, it works for both control and mana ramp.

I'm going to try to trade my thoughtsieze for a Kiora. They're worth almost the same.

I wish I had more time to play Magic. We need to get a bunch of people together and play sometime.

You guys should get Cockatrice. Chippy and I have played on it, it's pretty fun.

I'm posting this here because it fits in pretty nicely.
So I was looking at my cards, and I noticed this little fucker sitting on my desk
and like always, I couldn't help but wonder "What good could this massive piece of shit do?" I mean, it's triggered and activated ability seem atrocious, it's only redeeming value is it's power vs it's converted mana cost, right? Then I thought "What if you gave it lifelink?" I thought I came up with an extraordinary breakthrough, until I started typing this and realized that just made it a 2/1 with crappy firebreathing. I guess I'm not as smart as I made myself feel for a couple minutes.

Lifelink with Rhox Faithmender, though.
A lot of people like it since it can deal 2 damage on turn 2, but that's assuming your opponent doesn't just drop a Yoked Ox onto the field. You'll have to wait even longer to use it and have it do anything besides getting you killed, and there are plenty of cheap common walls this rotation that make it terrible in Limited, and I doubt it will see use in Standard for similar reasons. There are plenty of better ways to do 2 damage on turn 2 as well in Modern, and It won't ever see play in any format past that since there are so many power cards that are better in every way.

Any lifegain with rhox faithmender though. And turn 2 it can be 3 damage. ooh, scary. unfortunately, it'll just sit there when your opponent gets a creature with power greater than 4, which against green can happen on turn 3. Waste of a rare.

Don't forget, in competitive Magic most players just punch each other until one person deals lethal damage. No lifegain, no defensive creatures, just counters and attacking every turn with everything. And when I say competitive, I mean Friday Night Magic people. In Nationals there's actual strategy but you won't see that in FNM. So Satyr Firedrinker is good in that situation because they've never fought anybody with a deck that does anything besides attack all-out.
