We are using a sim (Most likely Pokemon Online) for the tournament. But we will be slowly shifting to the actual games as te rest us get it.

Basically what ToonStink said. We'll be using PO since Showdown's servers keep going down and they have some annoying bugs.
That's just for the placement tournament, however. Once all our gym leaders have the game we'll be moving to 3DS.
